Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial documentation.
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
- Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of financial records and supporting documents.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Generate financial reports to support management decision-making.
- Analyse financial data and provide insights on business performance.
- Monitor income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and cash flow.
Regulatory Compliance & Tax Management:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and remit taxes, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory obligations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and tax authorities when required.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and report variances.
- Support management in financial planning and cost-control initiatives.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up where necessary.
- Reconcile customer and vendor accounts regularly.
Internal Controls & Risk Management:
- Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures.
- Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting best practices.
- Support fraud prevention and financial risk monitoring initiatives.
Payroll Administration:
- Assist with payroll processing and salary reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate computation and remittance of statutory deductions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a financial services, fintech, microfinance, or lending institution.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
