Key Responsibilities for Accountant Jobs in Kitwe The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both internal and external financial activities, including close liaison with tax authorities and customs. Your duties will encompass daily accounting tasks and financial transactions with a focus on compliance and accuracy.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Maintaining external relationships with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and customs offices.
• Operating the ZRA tax system independently to handle VAT, PAYE, WHT, and other tax-related matters.
• Preparing and maintaining employee contracts along with personnel records.
• Calculating monthly payroll, salaries, and related statutory deductions.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory employee contributions and other legal requirements.
• Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Preparing monthly financial reports supported by relevant documentation.
• Assisting with audits and various finance or administrative tasks as needed.
• Qualifications and Experience Required Candidates applying for this position should possess a strong foundation in accounting or finance, demonstrated through education and practical experience.

Essential qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, with familiarity in Zambian taxation procedures.
• Proficiency in using the ZRA tax system and handling tax compliance.
• Experience managing payroll calculations and employee contract administration.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial data management.
• Strong personal qualities: responsibility, honesty, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Priority will be given to candidates with experience in tax refunds.
