Role Summary
Pack'N'Pay is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. The successful candidate will supervise the accounting team, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
This role will work closely with the CEO and CFO to provide timely financial insights that support sound business decisions while ensuring the integrity of the company's financial records.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Supervise the daily activities of the Accounting Department.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare management accounts and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.
- Conduct financial analysis, cost analysis, and variance reporting.
- Ensure payroll-related accounting entries are accurately posted.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and statutory obligations including VAT, PAYE, WHT, Pension, NSITF, ITF, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Ensure accounting policies comply with applicable accounting standards and company procedures.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Oversee inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
- Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Monitor cost trends and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Support periodic inventory counts and reconciliations.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach, and develop members of the Accounting Department.
- Allocate work, review outputs, and ensure high standards of accuracy.
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, HR, Sales, and other departments to improve business performance.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and financial controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in accounting, finance, or financial management, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, internal controls, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software Zoho experience is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
