About the Role
The Audit Manager will be responsible for overseeing audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring high-quality delivery, compliance with auditing standards, and effective supervision of audit teams. You will also play a key role in client management and supporting continuous improvement in audit quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead audit engagements from planning to completion
- Identify and assess key audit risks and ensure appropriate audit procedures are performed
- Review audit working papers, financial statements, and supporting documentation
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior audit staff
- Manage timelines and ensure timely completion of audit files
- Liaise with clients, finance teams, and senior stakeholders
- Prepare and review management letters, audit findings, and completion reports
- Ensure compliance with applicable auditing, accounting, and regulatory standards
- Contribute to improvements in audit methodologies, tools, and internal quality controls
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ audit experience within an audit or professional services firm
- Experience in a top 10 or reputable audit practice in Kenya or equivalent
- Strong experience managing audit assignments and reviewing audit files
- Solid understanding of audit planning, risk assessment, and completion processes
- Experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements
- Strong knowledge of auditing and accounting standards
Qualifications
- CPA Kenya, ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA or equivalent qualification
- Candidates close to qualification will also be considered.
Desirable
- Experience with Kenyan statutory audits and KRA compliance
- Knowledge of the Companies Act Kenya and local reporting requirements
- Experience with audit software or paperless audit systems
- Exposure to SMEs, group audits, or international clients
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Zoho Books
