Role Description

  • This is a full-time, on-site Branch Manager role based in Obubra, with close collaboration with teams in Calabar and other locations.
  • The Branch Manager will oversee day-to-day branch operations, including deposit mobilization, loan processing and effective portfolio and risk management.
  • The role will lead branch staff in achieving performance targets, and ensure excellent customer service for microfinance clients and small businesses.
  • The Branch Manager will monitor branch financial performance, drive growth in accounts and loan portfolios, and ensure full compliance with banking regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • The position also involves community engagement, market outreach, and building strong relationships with customers, local businesses, and community organizations to grow the branch’s presence and impact.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in branch management, microfinance operations, or retail banking, with a strong track record in portfolio growth and quality.
  • Sound knowledge of microfinance products, credit analysis, loan recovery, and risk management practices.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and people development skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
  • Excellent customer service, relationship management, and community engagement skills, especially with small businesses and low-income clients.
  • Solid analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial reports and make data-informed decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet targets under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, ethical standards, and commitment to responsible lending and financial inclusion.
  • Proficiency in basic banking software, MS Office tools, and comfort with digital banking channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
  • Prior experience working in microfinance or community-based financial services within the region is highly desirable.
