Employment Information

We are looking for a Branch Manager to join our team. This role involves the overall management of branch operations to ensure efficient service delivery, strong team performance, and the achievement of financial and operational objectives. The position includes overseeing daily operations, inventory management, transportation and distribution activities, while ensuring compliance with company standards, quality systems, and health and safety requirements. The Branch Manager is responsible for leading and developing staff, driving productivity and cost control, safeguarding assets, and ensuring that customer service levels and operational commitments are consistently met while supporting overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management

  • Manage and coordinate all branch operations to ensure efficient service delivery and compliance with company standards.
  • Oversee inventory management, optimize storage through ABC analysis, and maximize available warehouse space.
  • Ensure accurate inventory control, conduct periodic stock counts, and minimize inventory-related losses.
  • Implement effective shift handover processes, promptly address internal and customer operational requests, and monitor key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, ensure Proof of Delivery (POD) accuracy, and guarantee on-time customer deliveries.
  • Minimize customer claims through proactive operational controls and maintain operational master data, including product and delivery point records.
  • Ensure compliance with customer onboarding processes and maintain hygiene, pest control, and housekeeping standards.
  • Promote innovation and implement value-added solutions for operations and customers.
  • Oversee all operations at the Tsumeb site, ensuring efficient day-to-day branch management.

People Management

  • Design and maintain an organizational structure that supports operational requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and develop employees while implementing succession planning to ensure business continuity.
  • Manage employee performance, attendance, time management, and leave administration.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, motivation, and productivity within the team.
  • Ensure all HR documentation, including job descriptions, performance evaluations, skills records, and payroll information, remains accurate and up to date.
  • Address performance or behavioral concerns through the appropriate HR and employee relations channels.
  • Effectively communicate company objectives, values, policies, and procedures to all branch employees.

Financial Control and Cost Management

  • Effectively manage the branch budget to optimize costs and profitability.
  • Review monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and operating expenses with management.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and collection of all authorized charges.
  • Monitor and reduce overtime and other operational expenses where possible.
  • Oversee procurement activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Asset and Facility Management

  • Safeguard all physical assets, inventory, and facilities through effective security and loss prevention measures.
  • Manage compliance, maintenance, commissioning, and utilization of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
  • Maintain branch facilities in accordance with company standards.
  • Recommend asset upgrades or replacements to divisional management when required.
  • Manage branch vehicles, fuel consumption, and on-site diesel storage facilities.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, repairs, turnaround times, and compliance with branding standards.
  • Utilize transportation management systems (FLO, C-Track, Trackmatic, and Optix) to monitor driver performance and behavior.

Business Development

  • Drive revenue generation by identifying sales opportunities and achieving annual business targets.

Health, Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Manage and maintain the branch Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Monitor and report customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring targets are understood, measured, and achieved.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by proactively addressing non-conformances (NCRs, NCPs, and IOs) and ensuring their timely closure.
  • Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Conduct and document all required health and safety inspections and checks on a monthly basis.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma (Matriculation) or equivalent qualification.
  • A relevant qualification in Logistics, Business Management, or Warehouse Management will be an added advantage.
  • More than 10 years of experience in logistics or warehouse management, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in the use of transportation management systems (FLO, C-Track, Trackmatic, and Optix) as well as Quality Management Systems (QMS).
