Job Details

Job Purpose

  • The Carpenter is responsible for manufacturing, assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining high-quality bespoke furniture, cabinetry, joinery, and wooden structures.
  • The role requires excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings to produce work that meets company and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood and other materials according to specifications.
  • Manufacture bespoke furniture, fitted wardrobes, kitchens, cabinetry, doors, and other joinery products.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
  • Generate and work from cut lists to ensure efficient material usage and project completion.
  • Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Carry out site installations and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards and customer requirements are met.
  • Repair, modify, and maintain existing furniture and wooden structures when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
  • Work collaboratively with designers, project managers, and other team members to deliver projects on time.
  • Report material shortages, defects, and equipment issues promptly.
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, Joiner, Cabinet Maker, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience generating and following cut lists.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence desirable for installation work.

Key Duties in the Workshop:

  • Material preparation and stock management.
  • Machine setup and operation.
  • Furniture assembly and finishing.
  • Sanding, edging, laminating, and fitting hardware.
  • Quality control inspections before delivery or installation.
