Position Overview
The EYFS Class Assistant is an important role within our school's team, dedicated to assisting the class teacher in creating a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This role focuses on promoting the educational, social, and personal development of all pupils, ensuring that each child receives the best possible start to their education through play-based learning and positive interactions. By collaborating closely with the class teacher, this position significantly contributes to the development of the curriculum and the enhancement of the early learning experience, translating educational objectives into meaningful activities that inspire young learners.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting of Students:
Supervise and support children, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
Engage with children during activities, extending their learning through questioning and encouragement.
Assist with the personal care needs of children, which may include toileting, changing, and promoting good hygiene practices.
Promote positive behaviour and help children develop social skills, such as sharing and cooperation.
Build trusting and caring relationships with all children.
Supporting the Teacher:
Assist in preparing the classroom for lessons and clearing away afterwards.
Help prepare and maintain teaching resources and learning materials.
Contribute to observing and recording children's progress and development, in line with the EYFS framework.
Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and any concerns.
Support the teacher in managing class behavior.
Supporting the School:
Uphold all school policies, particularly those related to safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, and confidentiality.
Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and carers, as directed by the teacher.
Supervise children during unstructured times, such as playtime and lunch breaks.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school community.
Involvement in Extracurricular and School Enrichment Programs.
Actively support and participate in extracurricular activities and school events to enhance student engagement and foster community.
Encourage and guide students to explore their interests and develop new skills through organized enrichment programs.
Serve as a mentor to students, helping them navigate their interests and build leadership skills while promoting community connections and civic engagement.
