Gonarezhou Conservation Trust (GCT)
CONSTRUCTION SITE SUPERVISOR / MANAGER
Gonarezhou Conservation Trust (GCT) manages Gonarezhou National Park, one of the most iconic wilderness areas
in Zimbabwe. GCT works to protect wildlife, support local communities, and deliver authentic tourism experiences
in a remote and unique environment. We are seeking a Construction Site Supervisor / Manager on a fixed-term,
8-month contract to provide day-to-day site leadership and technical supervision, ensuring works are properly
coordinated, technically compliant, safely executed, and delivered to programme and quality.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Manage and supervise day-to-day site operations, reporting to the Client and coordinating with the
Architect and Engineers.
● Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to ensure works proceed in the correct sequence
and to programme.
● Provide technical guidance on setting out, structural works, roof installation, services coordination, and
finishes in line with approved documents.
● Review issued drawings and site conditions, identify discrepancies or buildability concerns, and escalate
technical matters as required.
● Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure consultant inspections are arranged at key hold points;
maintain site diaries, records, photographs, and issue logs.
● Support the client in reviewing progress claims, identifying variations, and tracking delivery against
milestones; lead site safety, toolbox talks, housekeeping, and incident reporting; assist with snagging,
practical completion, and handover.
ELIGIBILITY, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL
● Welcome: A qualification in Construction Management, Building, Quantity Surveying, Structural / Civil
Engineering, or a related built-environment discipline.
● Equally welcome: Trade or technical qualifications (diploma, certificate, apprenticeship) backed by strong
post-qualification site experience. Proven ability and track record will be prioritised over academic
credentials; novice candidates without site experience are unlikely to be successful.
● Strongly valued: Practical skills in quantity surveying (measurement, valuations, materials control) and
structural engineering (steel erection, concrete works, setting out).
● Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in building construction supervision, site
engineering, or construction/site management — preferably on projects involving structural steel, roof
installation, concrete works, and multi-trade coordination.
● Skills and attributes: Strong site coordination and leadership; ability to interpret drawings and
specifications; sound HSE awareness; good ICT and reporting skills; high integrity and sound judgement
under pressure. Additional training in project management, OHS, or contract administration is
advantageous.
● Availability: Continuous site-based engagement throughout the 8-month contract period.
