Credit controller required for our client in theALberton area.

We need a controller with experience in collections form the mining sector within South Africa. Strong person with at least 5 years experience preferably 10 years.

  • High-Volume Debt Collection: Proactively following up on outstanding mining accounts, negotiating payment plans, and processing formal demands when necessary. [1]
  • Billing & Statement Management: Generating, verifying, and distributing statements on a weekly/monthly basis, ensuring high-value invoices leave a clear paper trail. 
  • Payment Allocation: Processing incoming EFTs, managing wire transfers, and accurately allocating heavy bulk payments to the corresponding customer portfolios. 
  • Dispute Resolution: Collaborating directly with  teams to resolve short-pays, invoice shortages, pricing issues, and claims regarding damaged or lost cargo. 
  • POD and Shipping Doc Verification: Gathering and attaching critical shipping documents (e.g., Bills of Lading, Manifests, Weight Certificates, and Delivery Notes) required by large mining houses to release payment.
  • Demurrage & Detention Invoicing: Tracking and actively collecting specific, often heavily disputed, shipping fees incurred due to port delays or extended vessel loading times. 
  • Credit Risk Evaluation: Conducting credit checks on mining contractors, assessing financial statements, and establishing secure credit limits using trade credit insurance 
  • Order Blocking & Release: Reviewing accounts to ensure payment compliance before authorizing the release of shipments or delivery orders. 
  • Age Analysis & Reporting: Preparing regular age analysis reports and cash flow forecasts to update the Credit Manager on collection trends and potential bad debt risks.
