Responsibilities:
Crewing and Recruitment:
- Recruit,
screen, and coordinate suitable crew members for company vessels.
- Maintain an
updated database of crew members and potential candidates.
- Coordinate
crew changes, mobilisation, and demobilisation.
- Monitor
staffing levels and ensure all vessels are adequately manned.
- Liaise with
recruitment agencies and external partners.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all
crew members possess valid documentation, including seaman's books, certificates
of competency (COC), mandatory
certificates, medical
certificates and visas and
permits where required
- Maintain
familiarity with relevant maritime regulations and labour requirements.
- Monitor
certificate validity and arrange renewals before expiration.
- Ensure
compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Training and Development:
- Develop and
establish training programs for crew members.
- Identify
competency gaps and training requirements.
- Coordinate
internal and external training activities.
- Monitor
training completion and effectiveness.
- Follow up on
individuals regarding performance improvement and development plans.
- Maintain
records of qualifications, training, and competency progression.
Performance Monitoring:
- Track crew
performance and maintain appraisal records.
- Support
promotion and succession planning activities.
- Follow up on
disciplinary issues and corrective actions where required.
- Provide
recommendations regarding crew retention and development.
Administration and Reporting:
- Maintain
accurate electronic personnel records and documentation.
- Prepare
reports on crew status, training
progress, certification
validity, recruitment
activities and manpower
requirements
- Prepare
employment contracts and joining instructions.
- Maintain
confidentiality of personnel information.
Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as a
point of contact between vessel personnel, management, operations, and
external agencies.
- Communicate
confidently with employees at all levels of the organisation.
- Resolve
crew-related issues professionally and efficiently.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in human resources, maritime studies, business administration, marine operations, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant
experience in crewing, marine HR, or maritime operations.
- Experience
within fishing, shipping, offshore, or marine operations preferred.
- Advanced
computer skills are mandatory.
- Strong
proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, reporting, data analysis), Microsoft
Word, email
systems and document management, and ERP/HR or
crewing management software
- Organizational and Multitasking Skills
- Ability to
create reports, databases, and monitoring tools.
