Job Summary
AARC is seeking a reliable and responsible Driver to support the daily operations of its animal rescue centre. The role involves transporting animals safely to veterinary clinics, responding to rescue and cruelty calls, and collecting supplies and donations from various locations around Lusaka.
Working Hours
– Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:00 – 17:00 hrs
– Saturday: 7:00 – 16:00 hrs
– Total: 45 hours per week
– Emergency rescue and cruelty calls may occasionally require availability outside these hours.
Key Responsibilities
– Safely transport animals to and from veterinary clinics.
– Collect supplies and donations from various locations around Lusaka.
– Respond promptly to emergency rescue and cruelty calls, including outside standard hours when necessary.
– Ensure animals are transported calmly, safely, and with care at all times.
– Keep the vehicle clean and in good working condition.
– Report any vehicle maintenance issues promptly.
– Handle loading and unloading of supplies or animal carriers.
Requirements
– Valid, clean, manual Zambian driver’s licence.
– Proven safe driving record, with references.
– Familiarity with Lusaka roads and surrounding areas.
– Ability to handle animals with care and compassion.
– Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
– Able to work independently and to a high standard.
– Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge would be a bonus.
– Willingness to work flexible hours when required, including emergency call-outs.
