About the Electrical Technician Role Reporting directly to the Area Supervisor – System Maintenance, the Electrical Technician will perform maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on electrical equipment at assigned CEC substations.

The role demands a proactive approach to fault diagnosis and repair to minimize downtime and maintain continuous power supply to customers. Key Responsibilities Maintain substation and auxiliary electrical equipment to ensure safe and uninterrupted power supply.

Perform timely repairs on electrical system equipment to restore functionality efficiently. Assist with the installation of equipment in line with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

Conduct transformer overhauls and rehabilitation to return equipment to optimal working condition. Identify and diagnose faults on substation equipment to prevent major power interruptions.

Prepare detailed maintenance reports and ensure accurate data entry into electronic systems. Adhere strictly to system and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Keep work areas clean and organized at all times. Carry out cable jointing duties to prevent power disruptions.

Undertake additional tasks as assigned, supporting the company’s multi-skilling initiatives. Execute electrical maintenance activities efficiently and effectively.

Candidate Requirements for Electrical Technician Jobs in Kitwe Full Grade 12 Certificate. Advanced Certificate in Electrical or equivalent qualification.

Membership with the Engineers Institution of Zambia (EIZ). Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.

Ability to read wiring drawings and interpret wiring schedules. Strong understanding of auxiliary switching equipment including timers, contactors, and simple relays.

Proficient in computer use, particularly Microsoft Office applications. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
