Position Overview
The Estates Officer will be responsible for assisting in the management of the University’s land, buildings, and properties, focusing on lease administration, tenant management, property records, and ensuring statutory compliance.

Qualifications Required

● Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Management, Property Development and Valuation, Land Administration, or a closely related field.
● A minimum of (3) years of relevant post
– qualification experience in Estate Management or Property Administration, preferably within the public sector or a large institution.
● A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies

● Assisting in preparing the Estates budget, processing payments related to rates, taxes, and services, and providing financial inputs for estate projects.
● Assisting in resolving property
– related disputes, boundary issues, and tenant
– landlord conflicts.

Key Responsibilities

● Maintaining and updating comprehensive Estate Records (leases, agreements, plans, asset registers) for all university land and properties.
● Administering lease agreements for commercial, residential, and agricultural properties, including drafting, reviewing, renewal, and enforcement of lease terms.
● Conducting rental reviews and valuations to ensure market
– related rents are charged and managing the collection of all rents and service charges from tenants.
● Ensuring all University properties and land usage comply with relevant Zimbabwean laws, including the Urban Councils Act, Rural and Urban Planning Act, and local authority by
– laws.
● Assisting in preparing the Estates budget, processing payments related to rates, taxes, and services, and providing financial inputs for estate projects.
● Assisting in resolving property
– related disputes, boundary issues, and tenant
– landlord conflicts.
● Conducting regular site inspections to monitor property condition, assess maintenance needs, and ensure tenants comply with lease obligations.
