Job Purpose

The Financial Accountant will manage the full accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and the integrity of financial data. The role supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis, robust controls, and timely management accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & General Ledger

  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate processing of all financial transactions.

  • Monitor financial performance and analyse variances and trends.

Accounts Receivable & Cash Management

  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, statements, and overdue account follow-ups.

  • Perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations.

Payroll

  • Process and manage monthly payroll.

  • Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.

Reconciliations & Controls

  • Prepare and review bank, supplier, and intercompany account reconciliations.

  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and statutory submissions.

  • Liaise with authorities as required.

Fixed Assets

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and process depreciation.

Audit & Budgeting Support

  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for audits.

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by providing relevant financial data.

Data Integrity & Financial Governance

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information.

  • Support continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years in a similar Financial Accountant role.

  • Proven experience in full accounting function.

  • Experience with payroll systems is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of South African tax and statutory requirements.

  • Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.
