About the Financial Accountant Role As a Financial Accountant at Wonderful Group Zambia, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements, and ensuring strict adherence to statutory tax regulations.
This role demands a detail-oriented professional with excellent analytical skills who can effectively support auditing processes and budget management within a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities for Financial Accountant Jobs in Lusaka Financial Reporting & General Ledger:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; reconcile general ledger, trial balance, and fixed asset register; deliver management accounts by the 5th of each month with variance analysis.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure 100% compliance with VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, WHT, and Income Tax filings; manage ZRA audits; keep management informed of tax law updates.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods received notes; schedule payments; issue customer invoices; maintain debtor aging reports and enforce credit policies.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor daily cash flow; perform weekly treasury forecasts; conduct bank reconciliations for all accounts.
Audit & Internal Controls:
- Prepare audit schedules; enforce approval matrices and segregation of duties; detect and report irregularities or fraud.
Cost Accounting & Budget Support:
- Track production costs and inventory valuation; assist with annual budgets and forecasts; analyze cost overruns and recommend cost-control measures.
- Qualifications and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent.
- Active membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, mining, or a relevant industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Pastel, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong ethical standards, analytical problem-solving abilities, and capability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Experience working in multicultural environments is an advantage.
