OVERVIEW

CRC Recruiting specialises in providing expert HR consulting services, including recruitment for a wide range of clients. On behalf of its client, a car hire company, CRC Recruiting is inviting applications for the position of Fleet Management Officer.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To maximise fleet availability, utilisation, and profitability while ensuring that all rental vehicles are safe, clean, well-maintained, and compliant with road regulations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Rental Operations

• Ensure daily readiness of all vehicles for hire, including cleanliness, fuelling, servicing, and pre-rental inspections.

2. Fleet Utilisation

• Monitor and maximise vehicle utilisation rates.
• Minimise idle days and manage vehicle rotation between branches and the airport.

3. Maintenance

• Schedule preventive maintenance, servicing, and tyre management.
• Manage relationships with garages and service providers.

4. Tracking and Control

• Manage the GPS tracking system.
• Monitor driver behaviour, speeding, and unauthorised vehicle use.
• Ensure effective fuel control.

5. Compliance

• Ensure all vehicles have valid insurance, Certificates of Fitness (COF), road permits, and airport permits.
• Ensure all vehicles remain roadworthy at all times.

6. Cost Control

• Control fleet expenses, including fuel, repairs, and spare parts.
• Prepare monthly fleet performance and profitability reports.

7. Accidents and Claims

• Handle accident reporting, police reports, insurance claims, and damage recovery from clients.

8. Drivers and Staff

• Supervise and prepare duty rosters for drivers.
• Conduct defensive driving and customer service training.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• A Diploma or Degree in Fleet Management, Transport and Logistics Management, Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in fleet management, preferably in a car hire or car rental company in Malawi.
• In-depth knowledge of the car hire business and the Malawi vehicle rental market.
• A valid Malawi Driving Licence (Class B, C1, or C). Candidates must be competent drivers.
• Computer literacy, with excellent skills in MS Excel, fleet management software, and GPS systems.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
• Age range of 30–45 years.
• High integrity and excellent communication skills.
