Role Overview
The Regional Fruit & Vegetable Manager will oversee the operations, quality, and profitability of fresh
produce departments across several grocery stores within a designated region in Zambia. This role
requires a retail professional with proven experience in managing fruit and vegetable operations, supply
chain coordination, and customer service excellence. The successful candidate will ensure consistent
product quality, drive sales growth, and implement strategies that enhance customer satisfaction and
operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
• Operational Leadership
o Oversee daily operations of fruit and vegetable departments across multiple stores.
o Ensure consistent product quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
o Implement company policies, procedures, and best practices for fresh produce
management.
• Supply Chain & Vendor Management
o Coordinate with suppliers and farmers to secure high-quality produce at competitive
prices.
o Monitor supply chain efficiency and ensure timely delivery of fresh stock.
o Negotiate contracts and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Financial & Strategic Oversight
o Manage regional budgets, cost control, and profitability targets.
o Conduct regular sales analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support business growth.
o Identify opportunities for revenue expansion and operational improvement.
• Team Management & Development
o Recruit, train, and mentor produce managers and staff across the region.
o Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
o Conduct performance reviews and implement staff development plans.
• Customer Engagement & Service Excellence
o Ensure exceptional customer service standards in produce departments.
o Implement customer feedback mechanisms to improve offerings.
o Drive initiatives to increase customer loyalty and repeat business.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance
o Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene
standards.
o Monitor market trends and competitor activity to maintain competitiveness.
o Support sustainability initiatives and promote ethical sourcing practices.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Business Administration, or related field
(mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing fruit and vegetable operations in retail.
• Proven track record of overseeing multiple outlets or large teams.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel frequently within the region.
