Work Cycle: 3 Weeks On / 1 Week Off Short Description: Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a highly creative and driven Head Chef to join a luxury hotel & spa based in Sandton. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on culinary leader with strong 5-star hotel or lodge experience who is passionate about innovation, sustainability, and community engagement within a pre-opening luxury environment. Please note: During the pre-opening phase, the successful candidate may be required to work in Johannesburg on a part-time basis, with accommodation in JHB at the candidate’s own expense. Requirements: ✔ Minimum 5-star luxury hotel, lodge, or boutique property experience essential ✔ Strong leadership experience managing a small kitchen team (5–7 staff) ✔ Highly creative with a passion for modern, innovative cuisine ✔ Hands-on, driven, and energetic leadership style ✔ Strong understanding of sustainability and farm-to-table concepts ✔ Ability to perform in a pre-opening and evolving environment ✔ Driver’s licence essential (vehicles available on property) Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage a small kitchen team (5–7 staff) • Deliver exceptional 5-star dining experiences across all meal periods • Create innovative, seasonal menus with strong attention to detail • Maintain consistently high culinary standards • Be actively involved in daily kitchen operations • Manage food cost control, stock, and ordering systems • Ensure strict hygiene, safety, and compliance standards • Collaborate with management to align culinary offering with hotel & spa concept • Support sustainability initiatives including on-site grow zone utilisation • Participate in community engagement initiatives aligned with property ethos Package Includes: • Market-related salary: R35;000 • Live-in accommodation provided • Opportunity to be part of a new luxury hotel & spa opening • Exposure to sustainability-driven, farm-to-table culinary operations • Work cycle: 3 weeks on / 1 week off Please note that only suitable candidates will be contacted.
