HEAD OF ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above vacancy that has arisen within First Mutual Wealth Management.

The Job
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following

Originating and executing deals to meet the Alternative Investments Asset Allocation for various clients and business strategic objectives
Managing the full life-cycle of the Alternative Investments function, including developing new products, structures and overseeing existing portfolios
Leading market research and analysis to create actionable investments across multiple complex asset classes
Selecting, screening and developing commercially oriented alternative investment opportunities across multiple asset classes
Leading deal negotiations and structuring to maximise investment potential
Overseeing the due diligence process, including legal, operational and commercial reviews of investment deal flow
Preparing and presenting investment recommendations for approval to relevant committees (MANCO, EXCO, Board, Group Investment
Committee)

Leading capital raising initiatives, including pitch decks, presentations, and investment roadshows
Negotiating and finalising investment and transaction documents with lawyers, project promoters, and stakeholders
Supervising the implementation and monitoring of approved investment projects, ensuring compliance with guidelines, policies and covenants
Performing the role of nominee director on boards of investee companies as assigned
Managing building and construction projects, including planning, resourcing, implementation, evaluation and close-out
Preparing portfolio performance reports for clients, trusteesdt5r and the Group Investment Committee
Developing and maintaining the Alternative Investments framework, policies, and procedure manuals
Identifying, evaluating, and mitigating potential investment and project risks
Cultivating and maintaining senior-level relationships with lenders, investors, government officials, and investment partner

The Person
The ideal candidate must possess the following:

• A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business Studies, Accounting, Property Development and investments, Banking, Actuarial Science, or another relevant field (mandatory)
• A Master’s degree (MSc or MBA/MBL) is an added advantage
• Professional qualifications such as CAIA, PMI, CFA, ACCA, CIMA, or CA are added advantages.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar or related environment, with at least 3 years at a managerial level

• Strong deal origination, negotiation, structuring and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent financial modelling, valuation, and investment appraisal capabilities
• Solid understanding of project management (including construction project management) and risk management
• Proven ability to prepare and present investment recommendations to senior committees and boards
• High levels of integrity, attention to detail and business acumen
