About the job

  • We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Head of Business Development to drive business growth, expand market presence, and increase revenue generation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships, mobilizing deposits and investments, acquiring new clients, growing the company's portfolio, and leading business development initiatives within the financial services sector

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Growth Planning

  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.
  • Identify new markets, products, business opportunities, and revenue streams.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop initiatives to increase market share and business penetration.

Revenue Generation

  • Drive the acquisition of new clients while maintaining and growing existing relationships.
  • Lead efforts to mobilize deposits, investments, and other funding sources for the company.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow loan portfolios, investments, and other financial products.
  • Set and achieve revenue, portfolio growth, and business development targets.
  • Manage sales pipelines and oversee conversion strategies to maximize business opportunities.

Partnerships & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, investors, high-net-worth individuals, and strategic partners.
  • Lead negotiations and close high-value business deals.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships that support business growth.
  • Serve as a key representative of the company in client engagements and business meetings.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the business development team to achieve performance objectives.
  • Establish team targets, monitor productivity, and ensure accountability.
  • Collaborate with credit, operations, finance, marketing, and collections teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture.

Market Intelligence & Business Insights

  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, customer needs, and competitor activities.
  • Provide market intelligence and recommendations to support product development and business strategy.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and risks within the financial services industry.

Brand Development & Market Positioning

  • Work closely with marketing to strengthen brand awareness and market visibility.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, networking engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Promote the company's products and services to key market segments.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators KPIs, including revenue growth, deposit mobilization, portfolio growth, client acquisition, and return on investment.
  • Prepare regular business development reports and presentations for senior management and the Board.
  • Provide accurate forecasts and strategic recommendations to support business planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years' experience in business development, sales, relationship management, or marketing within a bank, finance house, microfinance bank, or other regulated financial institution.
  • Proven track record in deposit mobilization, investment sourcing, client acquisition, and portfolio growth.
  • Demonstrable experience attracting and managing high-net-worth individuals HNIs, corporate clients, and institutional investors.
  • Strong network within the banking, financial services, corporate, and investment sectors.
  • Experience marketing financial products, lending solutions, investments, treasury products, or asset financing facilities.
  • Proven ability to consistently meet and exceed revenue and growth targets.
  • Excellent relationship management, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing portfolio of corporate relationships and investor networks.
  • Professional certifications in sales, marketing, banking, finance, or business development will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with deposit mobilization targets and funding generation initiatives within a financial institution.
