Board of Directors Role Overview:

• The Medical Director serves as the chief executive and senior clinical leader, overseeing strategic, operational, financial, and clinical functions at KTPH.

This role blends direct patient care with leadership responsibilities across clinical and non-clinical departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the institution’s mission as an extension of Christ’s healing ministry, focusing on body, mind, and spirit.
• Ensure operational practices respect Adventist Sabbath observance while maintaining essential and emergency care availability.
• Promote healthful living, including nutrition and abstinence from alcohol and tobacco.
• Maintain an active clinical practice providing preventive and therapeutic care across all ages.
• Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, and evidence-based protocols.
• Supervise and mentor medical and clinical staff, developing guidelines and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage budgets, financial performance, and relationships with insurers and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with HPCZ standards, Ministry of Health requirements, and Zambian law.
• Lead recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and staff relations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) with full HPCZ registration and current practising certificate.
• Specialisation in Family Medicine (MMed or equivalent) preferred.
• Master’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration advantageous.
• Minimum five years clinical experience including two years in leadership roles.
• Proven healthcare administration or clinic management experience preferred.

Skills and Attributes:

Nurse In-Charge Reports to:

Medical Director Role Overview:

• Responsible for supervising nursing services to ensure quality patient care and effective ward management.

Key Duties:

• Administer prescribed treatments and promote patient recovery.
• Provide counselling to patients, relatives, and staff.
• Supervise nursing care plans, ward inspections, and resource management.
• Monitor departmental and individual staff performance.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 School Certificate with five O Levels including English, Mathematics, and Science/Biology.
• Diploma in Nursing and certificate in Midwifery, Theatre, or Mental Health.
• Minimum five years post-basic midwifery experience.
• Strong report writing, communication, computer literacy, and counselling skills.

Work Environment:

• Office and ward settings with potential exposure to infectious diseases.

Laboratory Technician Reports to:

Medical Director Role Overview:

• Conduct laboratory tests to assist diagnosis and patient management, ensuring quality and safety compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform complex clinical tests and maintain reagent stocks.
• Operate automated equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Train junior staff and uphold laboratory safety standards.
• Prepare laboratory data reports for management.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 School Certificate and Diploma in Biomedical Sciences with strong English communication skills.

Work Environment:

• Laboratory and field work with exposure to infection and hazards.

Pharmacy Technologist Reports to:

Medical Director Role Overview:

• Support pharmaceutical services through preparation, storage, compounding, and dispensing of medicines under pharmacist supervision.

Key Duties:

• Manage medicine storage, stock control, and dispensing.
• Support training of pharmacy staff and monitor essential medicine use.
• Ensure pharmaceutical safety, including proper disposal of expired medicines.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate and Diploma in Pharmacy Technology with professional registration.

Work Environment:

• Compounding and dispensing areas with exposure to chemicals.

Radiographer Reports to:

Medical Director Role Overview:

• Manage radiology services providing medical imaging, ensuring safety, quality, and cost-effective patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate imaging services, manage staff and resources.
• Plan professional development and supervise technical staff.
• Maintain equipment and participate in operational research.
• Enforce radiation safety and make timely operational decisions.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 Certificate, BSc in Diagnostic Radiography, HPCZ registration, and minimum five years’ experience.

Work Environment:

Dental Surgeon Reports to:

Medical Director Role Overview:

• Provide comprehensive oral health services, including examinations, treatment, and record maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct oral examinations and initiate patient treatment.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 Certificate, dental surgery qualification (BDS or equivalent), and postgraduate qualification as required.
