Background
International Alert is an international peacebuilding organization working with communities, governments, civil society organizations, and development partners to build sustainable peace and address the drivers of conflict. As part of its ongoing programming in Nigeria, International Alert seeks to engage qualified and experienced consultants to undertake the following assignments:
RADIO LISTENERSHIP ASSESSMENT IN SOKOTO STATE
International Alert seeks an experienced consultant to conduct a Radio Listenership Assessment in Sokoto State. The assessment will examine radio audience reach, listening habits, preferred stations, content preferences, and communication channels across target communities. The findings will inform evidence-based communication strategies and support the effective dissemination of peacebuilding, social cohesion, and community development messages.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
The consultant should possess:
- An advanced degree in Mass Communication, Media Studies, Development Communication, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting media assessments, audience research, communication studies, or listenership surveys.
- Strong expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Experience working in Northern Nigeria, particularly Sokoto State, is an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical, facilitation, and report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of Hausa language and media landscape is desirable.
2. CLIMATE VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT IN BENUE AND SOKOTO STATES
International Alert seeks an experienced consultant to conduct a Climate Vulnerability Assessment in Benue and Sokoto States. The assessment will identify climate-related risks, vulnerabilities, adaptive capacities, and the interaction between climate change, livelihoods, natural resource management, and conflict dynamics. The findings will contribute to programme design and support evidence-based climate resilience and peacebuilding interventions.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
The consultant should possess:
- An advanced degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Geography, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience conducting climate vulnerability assessments, resilience assessments, environmental studies, or related research assignments.
- Strong understanding of climate adaptation, resilience programming, and climate-security nexus issues.
- Experience working in fragile, conflict-affected, and climate-vulnerable contexts.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
- Excellent analytical and report-writing abilities.
- Experience working in Benue and/or Sokoto States will be an advantage.
