Roster: Fly-In/Fly-Out (6 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off)

The Role 

The IT Maintenance & Field Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and support of IT infrastructure, communications equipment, and field technology systems across the mining operation. The role provides hands-on technical support for network infrastructure, radio communications, CCTV systems, access control systems, wireless networks, field devices, and end-user equipment located throughout the mine, processing plant, workshops, camp facilities, and remote operational areas. The incumbent ensures the reliability, availability, and functionality of operational technology and IT infrastructure that supports safe, efficient, and continuous mining operations.

Main Duties and  Responsibilities

1. Field IT Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair IT infrastructure and communications systems across the mining operation.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on network, communications, and field technology equipment.
  • Conduct inspections of IT infrastructure to identify faults, damage, wear, and performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify hardware, connectivity, and communications failures.
  • Ensure all IT and field infrastructure is maintained in accordance with company standards, site procedures, and manufacturer requirements.

2. Communications Systems Support

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot two-way radio systems, repeaters, antennas, base stations, and associated communications equipment.
  • Support mine-wide communications systems and emergency communication networks.
  • Diagnose and resolve radio communication faults, interference issues, and signal coverage problems.
  • Assist with maintenance and testing of satellite communication systems where applicable.
  • Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and specialist support activities with external service providers as required.

3. Network and Telecommunications Support

  • Install, maintain, and repair network cabling, fibre optic infrastructure, switches, wireless access points, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Assist with network troubleshooting and connectivity investigations across the site.
  • Conduct cable testing, fault-finding, labelling, and documentation activities.
  • Support expansion, relocation, and upgrades of network infrastructure in line with operational requirements.

4. CCTV, Security, and Access Control Systems

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot CCTV surveillance systems and related monitoring infrastructure.
  • Support access control systems, biometric devices, security monitoring equipment, and associated field hardware.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of security systems.
  • Ensure security systems remain operational, reliable, and compliant with site security requirements.

5. End-User Equipment and Technical Support

  • Install, relocate, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and peripheral equipment.
  • Assist end users with hardware-related technical issues and field-based support requests.
  • Support deployment of new IT equipment, devices, and technology solutions.
  • Conduct equipment upgrades, replacements, and relocations as required.

6. Asset Management and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, field equipment, communications infrastructure, and technology systems.
  • Update asset registers, maintenance records, service logs, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Record maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment performance data in line with company procedures.
  • Assist with spare parts control, consumables management, and inventory tracking.

7. Project and Contractor Support

  • Assist with IT infrastructure, communications, and technology-related projects across the operation.
  • Support installation, commissioning, testing, and handover of new systems and equipment.
  • Participate in site infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and operational improvement projects.
  • Assist in supervising contractors and vendors performing IT, communications, or security-related work on site.
  • Verify quality of workmanship and compliance with site standards and safety requirements.

8. Safety, Compliance, and Operational Support

  • Comply with all company health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Perform work in accordance with safe work procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings, workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, equipment defects, and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure all field-based work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance infrastructure reliability, system availability, and field support efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and activity reports as required.
