Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the daily activities of all janitors.
- Allocate work schedules and cleaning assignments.
- Ensure adequate staff coverage for all areas of the College.
- Conduct daily briefings and communicate expectations clearly.
- Mentor, coach, and develop janitorial staff to improve performance.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct routine inspections of all facilities throughout the day.
- Ensure all assigned areas meet the College's cleanliness standards.
- Promptly identify and address cleaning deficiencies.
- Ensure toilets, classrooms, offices, hostels, dining areas, and public spaces remain clean and well-maintained at all times.
- Implement quality control measures to sustain high standards.
Accountability & Performance Management
- Hold janitors accountable for assigned responsibilities.
- Document performance issues and provide timely feedback.
- Recommend recognition for outstanding performance and corrective action where necessary.
- Monitor productivity and ensure duties are completed within expected timelines.
- Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and performance observations.
Cleaning Operations
- Develop and monitor daily, weekly, monthly, and termly cleaning schedules.
- Ensure deep cleaning is carried out according to schedule.
- Coordinate special cleaning before major school events and after holidays.
- Ensure proper waste collection, disposal, and recycling practices where applicable.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
- Promote the safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ensure staff use appropriate personal protective equipment PPE.
- Report safety hazards and maintenance issues promptly.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Submit timely requests for replenishment.
- Prevent wastage, misuse, and loss of cleaning materials.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained.
Communication & Reporting
- Prepare periodic reports on cleanliness standards and janitorial performance.
- Escalate unresolved facility or sanitation issues promptly.
- Work closely with the Facilities Team, Maintenance Team, Boarding House staff, and Administration to resolve issues affecting cleanliness.
Key Performance Indicators KPIs
- Overall cleanliness rating of the College.
- Daily inspection compliance.
- Number of cleanliness complaints received.
- Response time to cleaning issues.
- Toilet cleanliness and functionality standards.
- Staff attendance and punctuality.
- Completion of scheduled cleaning activities.
- Proper inventory management with minimal wastage.
- Compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of OND or equivalent qualification.
- Additional training in housekeeping, facilities management, or environmental health is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience supervising cleaning or janitorial staff, preferably in a school, hospital, hotel, or large institution.
