Junior Data Analyst - Graduate

Employment Information

Our client in Alberton is looking for a Junior Data Analyst supports the organisation by collecting, cleaning, analyzing,and visualizing data to drive informed decision - making within the wholesale and retail environment. This role focuses on analyzing sales trends, stock performance, pricing, promotions,customer behaviour, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail - oriented, and eager to learn within a fast - paced environment Minimum requirements:
  • Minimum Matric or relevant NQF qualification
  • Qualification in computer science or similar field
  • Newly graduated with 1 year experience within a similar position
  • Experience in wholesale or retail analytics (internships included)
  • Exposure to ERP or POS systems (SAP, Oracle Retail, SAGE, or similar software
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar software
  • Knowledge of inventory, pricing, and supply chain concepts
  • Basic knowledge of Python or R for data analysis
Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Preparation
  • Gather data from POS, ERP, CRM, inventory, and finance systems
  • Clean, validate, and prepare datasets for reporting and analysis
  • Maintain data integrity and assist in troubleshooting data issues
Reporting and Visualization
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports (sales, stock, margin, shrinkage, promotions, etc.)
  • Create dashboards and visualisations using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Support the development of automated reporting processes
Analysis and Insights
  • Analyse sales trends, customer purchasing patterns, and product performance
  • Assist in forecasting and demand planning
  • Identify areas of inefficiency, stock risks, or revenue opportunities
Cross - functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with merchandising, supply chain, operations, and finance teams
  • Support decision making with clear, concise, data backed insights
  • Participate in ad hoc analytical projects and business improvement initiatives
6. Data Governance
  • Ensure sensitive business data is handled ethically and securely
  • Assist with maintaining documentation on datasets, processes, and definitions
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning)
  • Basic knowledge of SQL for querying databases
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Understanding of statistical concepts and analytical techniques
Soft Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem -solving ability
  • Good communication skills, able to present data clearly
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a data driven environment
  • Ability to manage time and work on multiple tasks
