We are seeking a skilled Auto Electrician to inspect, install, repair, and maintain electronic systems in both light and heavy-duty vehicles.
This full-time role requires expertise in advanced diagnostic techniques and hands-on experience with vehicle electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. About the Role – Auto Electrician Jobs in Lusaka The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing a wide range of vehicles including small cars, trucks, forklifts, and commercial buses.
Utilizing specialized electrical instruments and hand tools, you will diagnose faults, conduct repairs, and maintain critical vehicle systems such as alternators, air conditioning, lighting, and safety components. Key responsibilities include installing electrical devices, testing circuits and components, performing routine safety inspections, and calibrating electronic controls on heavy machinery.
You will also maintain accurate records of repairs and spare parts used, ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Primary Responsibilities Install gauges, lighting, alternators, starter motors, relays, and key switches on various vehicles and equipment.
Diagnose electrical faults using circuit diagrams and advanced testing instruments. Repair and replace faulty alternators, generators, starters, ignition systems, wiring, fuses, lamps, and switches.
Conduct routine safety checks and inspect wiring harnesses for defects or hazards. Test electrical continuity and insulation to ensure system safety and compatibility.
Assess and implement repairs or part replacements to manufacturer quality and safety standards. Calibrate and service electronic controls on heavy-duty vehicles such as forklifts and commercial trucks.
Respond to vehicle breakdowns, including outside regular working hours as required. Qualifications and Experience Trade qualification in advanced motor vehicle auto-electrical or electronic systems and techniques.
Minimum of 2 to 4 years practical experience as an auto electrician, with proven knowledge of auto-electrical systems. At least 2 years’ experience working on electrical systems of heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks and forklifts is preferred.
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and attend to emergency breakdowns as necessary.
