RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure application of and adherence to the Maintenance Information system (SAP) and ensure all assets are clearly marked and controlled with the asset register.
  • Supervisory management, scheduling and coordination of an E, M, I & CM maintenance team w.r.t performing preventive, corrective and condition-based predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Ensure equipment for preventive maintenance, predictive vibration analysis, and performance evaluation (i.e. gearboxes, pumps, structures, machinery and assemblies) as per the Preventive Maintenance
  • Schedule and Corrective ad-hoc requirements are performed, reported, recorded, actioned and closed out.
  • Assist in the monitoring and submission of detailed monthly reporting on mechanical and condition monitoring equipment condition, preventive and corrective work, both performed and outstanding and all relevant contractual/project aspects & requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to established communication lines and reporting requirements.
  • Apply sound human resource principles, administration and control to meet performance objectives.
  • Ensure prompt completion and submission of completed PM schedules, job cards and timesheets and relevant departmental documentation.
  • Ensure safety and housekeeping meet the standards as set out in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act at a high level and comply with all applicable ISO system requirements and ensure continual improvement of these systems.
  • Ensure that specified, approved and contractual required stock levels are kept and controlled at all times.
  • High standard of monitoring and reporting on electro-mechanical plant condition.
  • Assist with specifications, sourcing, quality control of equipment required/refurbished/repaired, as well as pricing, tendering and implementation on new electrical, mechanical and civil installations.
  • Manage and attend to breakdowns and prioritise jobs promptly
  • Supervision, management, training and coordination of the maintenance team.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • N4 Qualified Fitter recognised apprenticeship & Trade test (section 13)
  • Experienced as a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Proven track record of applying and controlling maintenance management systems.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in the maintenance and operations of industrial water treatment plants
  • Strong Mechanical background to analyse and troubleshoot accurately and quickly give support and guidance to mechanical artisans.
  • Strong understanding of the OHS and MHS Act regulations and practices.
  • Experienced in the application of Root Cause Analysis methods
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Lifting and Rigging activities.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
  • Operational and safety procedures pertaining to maintenance activities, including safe use of tools, hand tools and lifting and rigging equipment.
  • Relevant project execution experience with a proven record of satisfactory prior performance
  • Organised, structured, and effective time management and reliable in maintaining records.
  • Read, interpret and understand data effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, in both verbally and the written form.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contracted in the course of work.
  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office Packages – Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, etc.
  • Effective performance management and sound understanding of Human Resource systems and procedures.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and can multitask.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and understanding of root cause analysis methods and facilitating FMECA
  • Maintenance Store management and maintain all inventory, and ensure proper storage.
  • Solution-and improvement-focused (initiative and motivation).
  • Effective time management skills with a sense of urgency.
  • Proactively work within a team with the ability to work unsupervised.
REQUIREMENTS
Medically fit in line with company and client requirements:
  • Water treatment plant environment, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, solvents, toxic materials, and hazardous chemicals within the allowable exposure limits as defined by Department of Labour.
  • Exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions.
  • Working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Work and/or walk on various types of surfaces, including uneven surfaces.
  • Enough physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and operating motorised equipment. Good hand-eye coordination.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate equipment.
  • Hear the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • The responsibility could include support on other company sites in the region
  • Must own a vehicle or have their own reliable method of transport and be willing to travel.
  • Have own accommodation within the region
  • Standby duties after hours and work on weekends.
