Your Next Career Move Starts Here! Join our I&J Trawling Division in the Waterfront, Cape Town as MECHANICAL PROJECT MANAGER and play a key role in project planning, executing and closing off of projects.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to: Technical Services Manager
Key Areas of Impact:
Project Planning
- Determine the project scope of work.
- Determine the budget and communicate to various internal stakeholders.
- Submit tender documentation to various potential service providers.
- Evaluate quotes for completeness, accuracy and cost.
- Liaise with the procurement department to allocate the winning tenders.
- Draw up a project plan and do a stakeholder analysis.
- Setup a Quality Control Process (QCP) for the evolution, where required.
- Assist the Adaptive Customer Management (ACM) to setup the project commissioning checklist.
Project Execution
- Drive the take on meeting with various contractor stakeholders.
- Attend daily project update and planning meetings.
- Submit a daily status reports on project costs and schedule and control the coordination of the work schedule.
- Manage the allocated project team assets.
- Liaise with ACM on QCP and maintenance items.
- Ensure the sign off on relevant QCP documents.
- Sign on any approved variation orders – communicate the deviation of costs as it arises.
- Re-commissioning all systems on boards with a commission checklist.
Project Close off
- Ensure all commissioning and documentation is in place.
- Records of QCP and final costs to be captured and submitted.
- Sign off stakeholders, where relevant.
- Ensure all contractors are paid and that work is closed off with delivered submission of a consolidated project report service reports.
What It Takes to Succeed:
Experience that set you up for success:
- 3 years’ experience in Project Management in the ship repair business
- 4 years’ experience in Marine Engineering Project Management would be advantageous
Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- A completed Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
- The ideal candidate will hold a National Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering Certificate Class 2 Unlimited
- Certificate in Project Management, Marine Engineering would be advantageous
