Your Impact
- To conduct the safe troubleshooting, replacement, repair, testing and general maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems, according to mechanical codes and specifications, to optimise plant processing and production.
As Part Of The Team You Will
Health, Safety and Environment:
- Deliver own prescribed outcomes and / or provide support services, by applying Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environment systems, policies and protocols.
- Maintain general housekeeping of tools utilised.
- Participate in regular (i.e. daily) safety leadership efforts.
- Assure that safety standards are adhered to.
- Eliminate any safety hazards caused by mechanical defects.
- Contribute to and attend all safety meetings.
Mechanical Maintenance
- Carry out routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment in line with approved standards.
- Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and repair or replace damaged mechanical components.
- Overhaul, service, and maintain crushers, pumps, gearboxes, mills, conveyors, screens, agitators, and related plant equipment.
- Test repaired equipment, use tools safely and effectively, and maintain accurate shift handovers and records.
- Support plant performance through continuous improvement, reduced downtime, and cost-effective maintenance practices.
Reporting
- Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
- Compile reports on field observations and factor results into weekly / fortnightly planning.
- Produce daily reports indicating the jobs completed for the day and submit the report to the Mechanical Supervisor.
Solutions Analysis
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical equipment for emergency repairs, conduct visual inspections with guidance.
- Diagnose whether to fix or replace machines.
- Analyse specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within OEM specifications, and in accordance with local standards.
Work Scheduling and Allocation:
- Accomplish work objectives by determining own daily work and prioritisation schedule.
- Coordinate with support services and assign short term tasks to other Technicians, as necessary.
- Respond to inquiries and instructions in a professional manner.
Your Training, Skills And Experience Checklist
Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
- Diploma or relevant certification in Mechanical Engineering.
Additional Knowledge
- Knowledge of maintenance principles and industry standards.
- Knowledge of the work management process.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling.
- Sound knowledge in portable hand and power tools.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 – 5 years’ experience in a mining process plant or similar environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, including the use of precision measuring tools and checking bearing tolerances.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, maintenance teams, operators, and senior staff.
- Sound computer literacy in SAP, MS Word, Outlook, and other Windows applications.
- Ability to perform specialised maintenance tasks, including mill motor and bearing change-outs, hydraulic depressurisation, vibrating screen repairs, and accurate identification/reporting of equipment parts.

Working Conditions
- Candidates in this talent pool may be considered for roles located in Ahafo North or Ahafo South.
