Key Responsibilities for Mental Health Nurse Intern Jobs in Lusaka As a Mental Health Nurse Intern, you will work closely under the supervision of experienced mental health professionals.

Your core duties will include:

• Providing nursing care to clients undergoing psychiatric stabilisation and addiction rehabilitation.
• Monitoring clients’ mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
• Assisting with medication administration and monitoring under clinical supervision.
• Conducting and documenting clinical observations, including vital signs and mental state assessments.
• Participating in psychiatric assessments, clinical reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Supporting the development, implementation, and review of individualised care plans.
• Assisting clients experiencing mental health crises, behavioural challenges, and withdrawal symptoms.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records, progress notes, and shift handovers.
• Engaging in therapeutic activities, psychoeducation, and rehabilitation programmes.
• Promoting patient safety, dignity, confidentiality, and adherence to professional ethical standards.
• Collaborating effectively with clinical, psychology, chaplaincy, and rehabilitation teams.

Qualifications and Requirements Applicants for mental health nurse intern jobs in Lusaka must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a Diploma or Degree in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing or a relevant nursing qualification.
• Be registered with, or eligible for registration with, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia.
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in mental health, addiction treatment, and rehabilitation.
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
