Network Engineer Level 3

Job Description

Our client is an established enterprise with a large, distributed technology environment and a critical dependence on secure, resilient connectivity. The organisation is modernising its network estate and needs a senior technical specialist who can bridge hands-on engineering, architecture input, security alignment and transformation delivery.
Performance Objectives for Year One

1. Own senior network design decisions: Lead or materially shape enterprise network designs that improve resilience, scalability, security and operational maintainability.
2. Resolve critical escalations at root cause: Act as third-line owner for complex network incidents, drive RCA and convert repeated issues into systemic improvements.
3. Advance secure network architecture: Partner with cybersecurity teams to improve segmentation, IDS/IPS alignment, zero-trust controls and audit-ready network practices.
4. Drive transformation workstreams: Lead network components of modernisation initiatives such as SD-WAN, hybrid-cloud connectivity, segmentation or platform upgrades.
5. Improve operational maturity: Introduce better monitoring, capacity planning, automation or SDN approaches where they can reduce risk, cost or manual effort.
6. Build engineering capability: Mentor Level 1-2 engineers and produce standards, playbooks and design documentation that improve consistency across the team.
