NEWS EDITOR (EDITORIAL)
Join Lesedi Television and be part of a dynamic team delivering accurate, relevant and impactful news for Botswana and beyond.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, research and select newsworthy stories relevant to Botswana and international audiences.
- Plan daily news coverage, bulletins, interviews and special reports.
- Write, review and approve news scripts and headlines.
- Verify facts, sources and information to ensure accuracy and balance.
- Assign and coordinate coverage with reporters and journalists.
- Supervise video news production and work with camera operators, video editors and production teams.
- Ensure timely and high-quality news content for television and digital platforms.
- Maintain editorial standards, legal compliance and responsible journalism.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in journalism, news editing or broadcast news production.
- Excellent English writing, editing and communication skills; Setswana proficiency is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Botswana's current affairs, politics, economy and social issues.
- Strong news judgment, fact-checking skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage multiple news stories.
