Job Details

We are looking for an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer.
The Occupational Health and Safety Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and the creation of a safe working environment. This role works closely with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture, reduce workplace risks, and ensure proactive prevention of incidents.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain OHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and assess working conditions, including noise levels, air quality, and ergonomic factors.

Incident & Risk Control

  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and follow-up action plans.
  • Maintain incident records, risk registers, and safety logs in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Recommend preventive measures and ensure timely corrective action implementation.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct safety induction sessions for new employees.
  • Organize and deliver training programs on emergency procedures, PPE usage, first aid, fire safety, and safe work practices.
  • Promote safety awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and continuous employee engagement.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with national occupational health and safety regulations, codes of practice, and internal company policies.
  • Liaise with government authorities, external auditors, and regulators during inspections and audits.
  • Stay updated with changes in OHS laws and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Valid certification in OHS (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in an OHS role, preferably in industrial, manufacturing, construction, or corporate environments.

Key Skills

  • Strong understanding of OHS laws, regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Excellent hazard identification and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong communication, reporting, and training facilitation abilities.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and develop preventive strategies.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with safety management systems.
