Medical Aid | Provident Fund | Meals | Accommodation | Uniform | Laundry | Staff Development Short Description: Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Junior Sous Chef to join a prestigious private game reserve located in the heart of the Sabi Sands. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a skilled pastry professional who thrives in a luxury hospitality environment and has a flair for creativity while maintaining the highest culinary standards in a world-class safari setting. Requirements: ✔ Minimum 4 years’ experience in a medium-sized pastry kitchen ✔ Professional chef qualification (minimum 3-year culinary qualification) ✔ Strong understanding of pastry kitchen procedures, timing, and planning ✔ Creative flair with ability to design and implement new pastry menus ✔ Ability to train, guide, and manage junior staff ✔ Strong communication and organisational skills ✔ High standards of hygiene, grooming, and professionalism ✔ First Aid training advantageous (can be provided) Key Responsibilities: • Execute daily pastry kitchen operations to 5-star luxury standards • Maintain fridges, stores, and stock rotation at the highest hygiene levels • Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams • Ensure correct use and maintenance of kitchen equipment • Manage accurate and timely ordering of ingredients for the section • Maintain consistency in all menu items within the pastry section • Train and develop kitchen team members to build skill levels • Provide clear and structured handovers between shifts • Support sustainability initiatives and eco-friendly kitchen practices • Assist across other kitchen areas where operationally required • Uphold strong food safety, hygiene, and operational procedures at all times Candidate Profile: • Creative, detail-oriented pastry chef with a passion for innovation • Strong team player with leadership potential • Calm and consistent under pressure • Passionate about luxury hospitality and guest experience • Committed to high standards and continuous improvement Please note that only suitable candidates will be contacted.
