Personal Assistant & Family Cook
Location: Tamarin / Black River, Mauritius
Reports to: Heather Drummond & Garth Drummond
Type: Full-time, up to 45 hours/week. Mon–Fri 9am–6pm and a few hours on weekends

About Us; We are a family of four based in Tamarin / Black River, with two teenage sons at boarding school in Zimbabwe. We are looking for an organised, reliable, proactive person to help run our personal administration, our household, coordinate staff, manage the home kitchen, and cook healthy plant-based meals. You do not need previous vegan or vegetarian cooking experience, but you must be a confident cook who can follow recipes accurately. You'll also support Heather in her work as founder of Ecoshe, a plant-based living NGO, when time permits.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan meals, manage groceries, and keep the kitchen organised.
- Cook healthy vegan family meals daily and for occasional social events.
- Coordinate household staff, suppliers, contractors, errands, and maintenance.
- Support family logistics for two teenage boys at boarding school in Zimbabwe.
- Manage personal admin, appointments, calendars, bills, receipts, online orders, and follow-ups.
- Assist with family, property, wellness and social events
- Business support to Heather for ecoshe.com including planning events
- Arrange travel, accommodation, visas, transport, and itineraries.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Is
- A strong, confident cook who enjoys preparing healthy food.
- Highly organised, proactive, calm, and reliable.
- Discreet, trustworthy, and good with confidential information.
- Comfortable using WhatsApp, email, calendars, Google Sheets, docs, and online tools like ai.
- Flexible, practical, and good at solving problems.
- Able to manage domestic staff respectfully but firmly.
- Experienced in PA work, household management, hospitality, property coordination, or similar.
- Able to track and manage household and contractor expenses
Must-Haves
- Valid driving licence and clean driving record.
- Legal right to work in Mauritius.
- Able to work or live in or near Tamarin / Black River.
- Comfortable working in an alcohol free, smoke free and vegan household.
- English required. French and/or Creole a bonus.
- Good references from previous jobs
- At least 5 years experience
Package
Option A: MUR 45,000-60,000 gross salary per month and 1 meal a day
Option B: MUR 30,000-45,000/month plus 1-bedroom and 1 meal a day when and if needed
Includes written contract, statutory benefits, paid leave, 13th-month gratuity, phone allowance, mileage reimbursement where applicable, and paid trial
