Key Result Areas:
- Receive, verify, bill, fill and dispense drugs/medical supplies as ordered or prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner.
- Facilitate quick discharge of inpatients by processing their files in real time.
- Maintain Pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels, anticipate needed medications and supplies, place orders and manage short expiry drugs.
- Provide drug and therapeutics information to patients as maybe required.
- Participate in drug stock process i.e. stock requisition, prompt shelving and keeping a tight control of pharmacy stock items.
- Advise staff in other disciplines within the Hospital on proper use of medicines and all other drugs.
- Ensure the Pharmaceutical Assistants pack the correct dosage before issuance to the patients.
- Enforce dangerous drug act regulations in the pharmacy.
- Carrying out quarterly medicine storage areas inspections in all theatres, critical care areas and crash charts.
- Following the laid down security and safety system and procedures in all transactions including not sharing computer log in and passwords with other staffs.
- Verify quantities against invoices and inform supervisors of stock needs and storages.
- Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions. Extemporariness preparation and sanitizers syrups.
- Participate in internal CMEs both departmental and with other disciplines.
- Keep abreast of new development of drugs, techniques and pharmaceutical services to disseminate appropriate information to patients.
- Participate in ward rounds assist the doctors with information on medicines that they prescribe and for quality control
- Support the Head of Pharmacy in having the Department achieve local and international quality management standards.
- Ensure excellent customer relations management by Pharmacy to all its clients.
- Maintain a clean working environment at all time.
- Must hold a minimum Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
- Must have a valid practicing license
