Job Summary
- The Procurement Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that ensure the timely, cost-effective, and quality acquisition of goods and services required for business operations.
- The role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies, and driving continuous improvement in procurement processes.
- The ideal candidate must have significant procurement experience within a manufacturing environment and possess strong commercial, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers to ensure the best value, quality, and delivery performance.
- Lead contract negotiations and establish favorable commercial terms with suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, production inputs, equipment, and services required for manufacturing operations.
Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement improvement plans where necessary.
- Manage supplier risk and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain an approved vendor database.
Inventory & Cost Management:
- Collaborate with production, warehouse, and planning teams to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Analyze procurement spend and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor procurement budgets and ensure expenditure remains within approved limits.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and documentation.
- Conduct procurement audits and support internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop procurement personnel.
- Set departmental goals, KPIs, and performance standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CIPS, CPSM, CIPSMN, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8–10 years' procurement experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Mandatory experience within a manufacturing industry environment.
- Proven track record of contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost optimization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
