About the Role – Production Manager Jobs in Lusaka As the Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire chocolate production process, ensuring efficient, high-quality manufacturing performance. You will lead, develop, and motivate the production team to meet and exceed performance expectations while fostering teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment aligned with Savanna’s values.
This hands-on role requires spending time on the factory floor to identify and remove barriers, solve challenges, and enable the team to perform at their best.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development:
- Manage, coach, and develop the production team; assign daily tasks; train staff on production techniques; and build a culture of accountability and teamwork.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee day-to-day production activities; organize production schedules; ensure adherence to recipes and procedures; monitor all stages of chocolate production; troubleshoot issues; and maintain inventory communication.
Performance & Continuous Improvement:
- Track KPIs, productivity, and product quality; maintain clear SOPs; identify and implement workflow improvements; and drive ongoing enhancements in processes and team performance.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Uphold high standards of food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety; ensure cleanliness and compliance with manufacturing standards.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate production status, challenges, and resource needs to leadership; coordinate schedules with inventory and order demands; and foster collaboration across departments.
- Required Skills and Experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing or food production management, preferably within confectionery, bakery, or FMCG sectors.
- Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach and develop teams effectively.
- Demonstrated success in achieving production KPIs and driving team performance.
- Practical knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Adaptability and pragmatic leadership in a fast-paced environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety, health and safety regulations, and compliance standards in manufacturing.
- Positive, energetic, and proactive work approach.
