Job Description:
- Research and explore new composite materials, processes, and manufacturing technologies
- Develop and refine innovative structural and production solutions for industrial use
- Support the transition toward more sustainable and efficient manufacturing methods
- Produce 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support design development and validation
- Carry out technical analysis, feasibility assessments, and cost/benefit evaluations for new ideas
- Oversee prototype builds and structured testing in lab and production environments
- Analyse test results and standardise findings to support scalable implementation
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to introduce new technologies effectively
- Provide technical input into sourcing, supplier development, and material selection
- Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation, including BOMs and reports
- Contribute to problem-solving around quality issues, design changes, and production challenges
- Support the integration of new R&D developments into day-to-day manufacturing processes
Skills & Experience:- Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in composites, advanced materials, or manufacturing engineering
- Background in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or similar manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of composite materials and manufacturability principles
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools), MS Office, and MS Project
- Strong analytical thinking with a practical, hands-on mindset
- Commercial awareness with experience in costing or ROI analysis
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical teams
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-moving environment
- Detail-focused, adaptable, and solution-driven
Qualifications:- Diploma (NQF 6) in Engineering or related field
- BTech or BEng (NQF 7) preferred
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites as required
