Position Overview for Recoveries and Compliance Lead Jobs in Lusaka The Recoveries and Compliance Lead will manage the recoveries team, oversee portfolio performance, and ensure lending activities adhere to approved controls.

The role involves developing effective recovery strategies, handling complex cases, and coordinating with external service providers such as debt collectors and legal advisers. Additionally, the successful candidate will conduct compliance audits on client onboarding, loan documentation, and collateral management to maintain operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the recoveries team, allocating portfolios and monitoring their performance. Track repayments, arrears, and portfolio-at-risk, implementing early interventions on overdue accounts.

Develop and execute recovery strategies for high-value, sensitive, and complex cases. Coordinate with debt collectors, bailiffs, legal advisers, and other service providers.

Support lawful collateral recovery and ensure all recovery actions are properly documented. Conduct compliance checks on client onboarding, loan origination, documentation, and disbursement.

Ensure collateral is accurately documented, verified, valued, and traceable. Identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements to lending and recovery procedures.

Prepare detailed arrears and portfolio-at-risk reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Analyze delinquency drivers, recovery performance, high-ticket exposures, and compliance gaps.

Collaborate closely with loan agents, branch teams, credit, finance, and management departments. Promote responsible lending, confidentiality, fair client treatment, and ethical recovery practices.

Support staff training on recovery procedures and compliance controls. Performance Expectations Maintain arrears and portfolio-at-risk within approved thresholds.

Ensure prompt identification and follow-up of repayment exceptions. Achieve recovery targets with documented strategies for complex cases.

Submit accurate and timely recovery and portfolio-at-risk reports. Ensure client files and systems comply with regulatory and internal standards.

Confirm all approvals and documentation are in place before loan disbursement. Maintain comprehensive and traceable collateral documentation.

Provide clear work allocation, coaching, and performance reviews for the recoveries team. Qualifications and Experience Required Diploma or Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Risk & Compliance, or a related discipline.

Minimum of two years’ relevant experience in credit, recoveries, microfinance, lending operations, risk, or compliance. Proven experience supervising staff or coordinating a team.

Strong knowledge of arrears management, portfolio-at-risk analysis, loan documentation, collateral controls, and field recoveries. Working understanding of statutory business compliance requirements.

Excellent leadership, negotiation, judgment, analytical, and reporting skills. High level of integrity, discretion, and respect for confidentiality and client dignity.
