Employment Information
A microfinance institution is recruiting two Recoveries Officers to manage overdue loan accounts and support debt recovery. Successful candidates will negotiate repayment arrangements, investigate delinquent accounts and help maintain loan portfolio quality within the institution’s credit and risk management frameworks.
Duties and responsibilities
• Contact clients with overdue accounts and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Negotiate repayment plans and monitor compliance with agreed schedules.
• Conduct field investigations involving clients with overdue loans.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly arrears reports.
• Analyse portfolio at risk (PAR) and report findings to management.
• Prepare documentation for recovery proceedings, including small claims court cases, and coordinate with the legal department.
• Help maintain, reconcile and analyse non-performing loan portfolios.
• Keep accurate records of client communications and payment arrangements.
• Recommend suitable recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with operations staff to support a healthy loan portfolio.
Qualifications
• Degree or Diploma in Banking, Finance, Business Management or a related discipline.
• At least two years’ experience working in a microfinance institution.
• Knowledge of court procedures, including small claims court processes.
• A clean driver’s licence is mandatory.
• Strong negotiation, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail, professionalism, integrity and persistence.
• Certification in Microfinance is an added advantage.
