My client in Alberton is seeking an experienced and driven Sales Manager to lead and manage its national sales function. This candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, managing key retail relationships, developing and managing the sales team, and expanding business opportunities within the retail and reseller market. This role requires a commercially minded leader with strong experience in supplying the mass retail channel and managing high-performing sales teams
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum Matric or relevant NQF qualification
- 5–10 years’ sales and sales management experience
- Proven experience supplying the mass retail channel
- Strong track record in business development and account growth
- Experience managing and developing sales teams
- Excellent understanding of wholesale/distribution environments
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills
- Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
- Willingness to travel when required throughout South Africa
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage, mentor, and develop the sales team
- Set sales targets and monitor team performance against KPIs
- Conduct regular sales reviews and performance evaluations
- Develop sales strategies to achieve revenue and margin targets
Motivate and coach team members to improve effectiveness and accountability
Key Account & Retail Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with major retailers and buying groups
- Manage strategic key accounts and support negotiations with large customers
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and increase market penetration
- Assist with resolving escalated customer issues and service concerns
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the retail and reseller market
- Expand the company’s footprint into new channels and customer segments
- Develop strategic partnerships and long-term customer relationships
- Support new product launches and promotional campaigns
Commercial & Operational Coordination
- Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance teams
- Monitor sales trends and market activity
- Ensure effective communication between sales and operational departments
- Provide regular reporting and analysis to management
- Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to overall business strategy and growth initiatives
- Analyse competitor activity and market developments
- Assist in developing pricing, promotional, and account strategies
