Employment Information

To deliver engaging and rigorous Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) aligned with the British National Curriculum to secondary school students. The role aims to promote scientific literacy, inquiry-based learning, and critical thinking, while fostering a passion for science in a diverse international classroom.

Nationality Requirement:

UK / European passport holders preferred

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field) – face-to-face study

  • PGCE Certificate (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – for UK applicants

  • SACE Registration – for South African applicants

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary level in a British curriculum school

  • Ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and preferably 5 (A-Level or equivalent)

  • Experience in preparing students for IGCSE and A-Level Science examinations (desirable)

  • Previous international or GCC experience (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated Science lessons that engage and challenge students

  • Teach general science across lower secondary and a science specialism (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) at IGCSE/A-Level

  • Prepare schemes of work and long-term lesson plans in alignment with curriculum standards

  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Monitor, assess, and report on students' academic progress

  • Use practical work, lab experiments, and digital tools to enhance understanding

  • Maintain laboratory safety protocols and manage science lab resources

  • Participate in extra-curricular activities, science fairs, and enrichment programs

  • Engage in parent-teacher conferences and communicate student progress effectively

  • Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular initiatives

  • Attend departmental and whole-school meetings, training sessions, and events

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the science curriculum

  • Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and student well-being

Key Skills:

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics

  • Practical laboratory skills and health & safety awareness

  • Lesson planning and curriculum development proficiency

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Classroom and behavior management expertise

  • Confidence in using EdTech and digital learning platforms

  • Assessment and data analysis skills

  • Teamwork and collaboration with multicultural teams

  • Creativity and innovation in teaching methods

  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability in an international school setting
