MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

5 years or more of agricultural experience on a large-scale commercial cropping operation
A sound, practical understanding of agronomy across fertilization, irrigation, planting, crop protection
and harvesting
A high level of self-motivation and a very strong work ethic, with the resilience to perform under
sustained seasonal pressure
Proven ability to plan, allocate and manage a large labour force
Practical mechanical knowledge would be an advantage on the arable side (note: mechanical repairs
and equipment maintenance are handled by our full-time workshop manager)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

Full agronomic management of our double-season row and cereal cropping production — seed maize,
commercial maize, commercial soybeans and wheat, with the possibility of barley and groundnuts
Planning and execution of all field operations, including land preparation, planting, fertilization,
irrigation and crop protection
Ensuring the timely and accurate application of all inputs throughout the season
Managing crop harvesting, grading and delivery
Forward planning, job allocation and the management of a large labour force (150 permanent and up
to 500 casual labourers during peak periods)
Organising and coordinating multiple farm operations simultaneously
Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to your team members
