Job Description

Our client is a major financial services organisation with a large-scale consumer technology environment and a growing mobile engineering capability. This is an opportunity to join a mature enterprise team where mobile applications are business-critical, customer-facing, and expected to meet high standards for reliability, usability, security, and performance.

The role is suited to a senior Android engineer who has moved beyond feature delivery alone and can influence architecture, improve engineering practices, mentor others, and help shape the long-term quality of an Android platform used at meaningful scale.
Performance Objectives for Year One

  1. Lead production-grade Android delivery across design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance, ensuring mobile releases are reliable, usable, performant, and maintainable.
  2. Modernise and strengthen Android UI delivery by building responsive user experiences with Jetpack Compose and applying Material Design and Android UI guidelines consistently.
  3. Shape a modular and maintainable Android architecture by applying MVVM, Clean Architecture, Android Jetpack components, Coroutines, Flows, and Hilt in a way that supports testability and long-term scalability.
  4. Improve engineering quality and team standards through strong Git practices, pull request discipline, code review, debugging, performance optimisation, and maintainable code patterns.
  5. Strengthen build, deployment, and release capability by supporting CI/CD pipelines, Gradle builds, Kotlin DSL tasks, and Android release processes for public and internal app distribution.
  6. Mentor junior and intermediate engineers by providing technical guidance, raising development standards, and creating a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability.
