Position Overview
The SHE Manager will lead and oversee the University’s Safety, Health and Environmental management systems. The role involves developing strategic SHE programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operations.

Qualifications Required

● Degree in Environmental Science & Health, Occupational Safety or any related field.
● Professional certification
– OSHEMAC/NEBOSH/ SAMTRAC or equivalent
● Minimum 5 years’ experience in Safety, Health and Environment with 2+ years in leadership position.
● Registered with relevant professional body.
● Strong knowledge of SHE legislation and ISO standards
● Experience managing teams and safety management systems

● Drive continuous improvement in safety performance
● Manage SHE budgets and resources

Key Responsibilities

● Develop and implement the University’s SHE policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations applicable to educational institutions.
● Advise management on SHE risks, legal compliance, and strategic improvements.
● Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections across academic buildings, laboratories, residences, workshops, and offices.
● Lead accident, incident, and near
– miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
● Monitor workplace and campus conditions to ensure health and wellbeing of staff and students.
● Develop and coordinate safety, health and Environmental programs for staff and students, including medical surveillance where required.
● Monitor and report on the University’s environmental impact and sustainability initiatives.
● Develop and deliver SHE training programs for staff, students, and contractors.
● Ensure contractors working on campus comply with University safety and environmental standards.
● Review safety plans for construction, maintenance, and renovation projects.
● Drive continuous improvement in safety performance
● Manage SHE budgets and resources
