A leading manufacturing company in the digital inks and packaging sector is looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager with strong experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and quality assurance to join their team in Ottery, Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving ISO-aligned quality, safety, and environmental standards across manufacturing operations, with a stronger emphasis on EHS while overseeing packaging quality processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) processes and procedures
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on processes and finished products
  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on quality performance data
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality
  • Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with standards
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Develop and maintain HSE policies and procedures in line with ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses across the facility
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Drive safety training, awareness programmes, and emergency preparedness
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safety protocols on-site
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain records, permits, and licenses related to safety and facilities

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Professional HSE certifications (e.g., SAMTRAC or NEBOSH)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong experience in EHS (essential)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and implementation thereof
  • Experience in SOP development and process improvement
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiatives
