Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Production Shift Leader to oversee and coordinate the daily activities of our manufacturing shift team. You will be responsible for maximizing shift output, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring that all products meet strict brand and quality standards. Success in this role requires a proactive approach to team leadership, uncompromising adherence to food safety, and a strong commitment to occupational health and safety.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Food Safety, Hygiene, and Compliance
Sanitation and Hygiene: Ensure the shift team strictly adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and facility hygiene standards.
CCP Monitoring: Accurately monitor and document Critical Control Points (CCPs) to prevent contamination.
Audit Readiness: Maintain a work environment that consistently passes internal and external compliance audits (e.g., HACCP, ISO).
Traceability and Labeling: Ensure all products and ingredients are accurately labeled and tracked throughout the processing line.
2. Production Targets and Efficiency
Output vs. Targets: Achieve daily and weekly shift production quotas without compromising product quality.
Waste Reduction: Minimize raw material waste, product spillage, and packaging defects.
Downtime Minimization: Effectively coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce equipment breakdowns and changeover times.
Yield Rates: Maximize usable product derived from raw materials during processing.
3. Quality Control
Product Specifications: Ensure that taste, texture, weight, and packaging meet established brand and quality standards.
Defect Rates: Keep product defect and customer complaint rates within acceptable operational thresholds.
Hold and Release Protocols: Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for isolating, documenting, and testing any non-conforming products.
4. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Safety Records: Maintain a shift with zero lost-time injuries (LTIs) and strictly enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Hazard Reporting: Proactively identify and report potential safety hazards or near-misses on the factory floor.
Emergency Preparedness: Conduct regular emergency and evacuation drills with the shift team. 5. Team Leadership and Management
Staff Training and Onboarding: Ensure all operators are properly trained on new equipment, GMPs, and safety protocols.
Attendance and Labor Utilization: Manage shift scheduling, control absenteeism, and minimize unnecessary overtime costs.
Conflict Resolution: Effectively address interpersonal conflicts or performance issues among production staff.
