Job Title: Store Manager – Bubble Tea / Coffee Chain
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: Operations Manager / Franchise Owner
1. Core Mission
To lead the daily operations of our flagship store in Kampala, ensuring the brand standard is upheld despite local infrastructure challenges. You will be responsible for profitability, team stability, and product consistency in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Daily Operations & Infrastructure Management
- Utility Management: Proactively manage power outages (load shedding) by ensuring generators/inverters are functional and fuel supplies are adequate. Monitor water quality/pressure and oversee the use of water filtration systems essential for beverage making.
- Opening & Closing: Strictly enforce opening/closing checklists, including cash handling, security protocols, and pre-shift prep (tea brewing, syrup prep).
- Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, especially critical in Kampala’s tropical climate, to prevent pest infestations and ensure food safety compliance.
B. Team Leadership (Local Staff)
- Recruitment & Training: Recruit, hire, and train local baristas and service crew. Be patient in translating SOPs into simple English or Luganda to ensure comprehension.
- Discipline & Retention: Manage attendance, punctuality, and conduct. Address the high staff turnover common in the local F&B scene through effective motivation and performance management.
- Shift Management: Create and manage weekly shift schedules to ensure optimal coverage during peak hours (lunch, after-school rush).
C. Financial & Inventory Control
- Cash Handling: Oversee daily cash reconciliation (UGX) with precision. Manage banking deposits and ensure the safe handling of daily revenue.
- Stock & Waste: Manage inventory levels to minimize waste (spoilage of milk/fruits). Track stock usage and place orders with the central supply chain coordinator.
- Cost Control: Monitor COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) and control operational expenses (utilities, cleaning supplies).
D. Customer Experience & Sales
- Service Standards: Ensure every customer receives a consistent, high-quality drink and friendly service.
- Complaint Resolution: Handle difficult customers or complaints professionally, offering solutions that protect the brand reputation.
3. Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years in a supervisory role within F&B (QSR, Coffee, or Bubble Tea). Experience with KFC, Java House, Café Javas, or similar chains is highly preferred.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Language: Fluent in English. The ability to speak Luganda is a major advantage.
Skills:
- Strong cash handling and basic math skills.
- Ability to manage local staff firmly but fairly.
- Problem-solving skills related to local utilities (power/water).
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and late hours.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally eligible to work in Uganda.
